Robinson, Julian v Attorney General of Jamaica
Spanning October 2018 to April 2019, Member of Parliament, Julian Jay Robinson challenged provisions in the National Identification and Registration Act (NIRA) based on likelihood of rights violations under the Jamaican Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms.
The Court ruled by unanimous decision that the National Identification and Registration Act was in fact unconstitutional null, void and of no legal effect, striking down the Act, and in effect, the National Idenitification System (NIDS).
